Harrow is not all pathos, however. His war wounds have rendered him both sympathetic and ruthless. In fact, he is beyond ruthless. While he exudes an all-too-human sadness, he is absolutely calculating and detached when it comes to the deployment of violence, sometimes shocking even Darmody with his frankness. His mask is but a symbol. He is a killing machine.
